5 Tips to Get People to Subscribe to Your Emails


Your email list is an important part of growing your business. It helps you build a relationship with your audience, creating loyalty and most importantly SALES. So how do you get people to join your list? Here are some tips to help you get more email sign ups!

1. discount offer

For most product sellers the opt-in offer is a small discount, usually 10-15%. A potential customer signs up and you send them a discount code. While a discount is great, the purpose of giving it is for the person to actually make a purchase. If you are going to offer a discount put an expiration date on it, that way you create a sense of urgency. You can even add a counter to your email to create a sense of urgency. I say a week tops, but do what works best for you.

2. free shipping

Free shipping is always a great incentive to sign up. You don't even have to take a loss on the shipping. You could just add it into the total price of the product.

3. e-book or guide

The opt-in doesn't always have to be a discount or free shipping. I know this is the go to for most physical product sellers, but a lot of you are professionals in your industry (hairstylist, MUA, estheticians, nail techs, etc.) and that means you know more than the average person about that particular subject. That makes your knowledge valuable and the perfect option for an opt-in offer to your mailing list. Other types of opt-ins include tutorials, styling tips and guides that solve specific problems (dry skin, hair growth, dying hair extensions, nail art tips). Whatever it is the message must make sense to your brand and be of value. Incorporate your products and brand personality into it! Also don't feel like it has to be a huge offer. Bigger is not always better. Keep tutorials no longer than 10 minutes and guides under 10 pages or less. The best opt-ins can be used right away and are straight to the point. You are offering potential customers a sweet treat not a whole meal. 

4. Let your brand's personality shine.

Avoid boring stuff like "Sign up to our email for 10% off" or "Get exclusive offers!". While both of those phrases are OK you got to add some personality to them! Check out the examples below of some sign ups that are oozing personality.

5. don't hide your list!

Be sure your email sign up form has a designated space on the home page of your website. I also recommend a pop up sign up form. You can't increase your opt-ins if people don't know where to sign up.
